I searched the forums. I searched epinions, only one mention of these TMS Helmets from some Harley forum so thought I would leave a review here for people searching for a TMS helmet review.
I wanted a helmet for riding my Honda XL350R and Honda ACE VT1100c2 ( with no windshield) Something with a face shield. I do not like full face helmets for lots or reasons. Visibility, comfort, weight, communication blockage problems, and glasses must be removed everytime.
After searching for weeks for a good shield for my 3/4 HJC helmet, and finding only $20 shields. I thought I would try a cheap $29.95 delivered to my door TMS open face helmet off Ebay. New Black with a visor and shield. Yeah, I know "You got a $20 head, then wear a $20 helmet". Well, it is DOT. And I think it was Cycle World that did their own tests ( Blow the lid off ) that showed all DOT's worked about the same regardless of price. This particular helmet took 2 hands at 1st to raise and lower the shield. It tucks behind the visor when flipped up. Now I can use one.
When you factor in the helmet was probably shipped from over seas, then from Calf to Michigan for $30 total , one would expect a very cheap helmet. Its not bad. I am big, I wear an XL. My pal that wears a L tried it on and he said he would order a XL. The ear holes are above my ears, otherwise its not bad comfort. I thought the visor would catch too much wind and push the helmet back on my head at high speed ( 70 mph )..but no, it holds steady.
It has an unusual egg like shape. If you are self conscious then stick with your showee.
I like it, and am glad I bought it. I only have 4 hours in it. So maybe I will update this review one day.
