Hello To all.
 
I am new to this site having just purchased a Honda XL250 Motosport.
It has been imported from USA and I am trying to identify its age so I can register the bike in the UK.

Can anyone help?

The frame number is XL250-1044933

I am hoping it will be pre 1973 as pre 73 cars and bikes in the uk are road tax free.

Also looking for an airbox and seat for the bike so if anyone has any parts please contact me.

Frame #XL250-1000049 to~ Sell Date 1972-1973, Rel. Date: 03/01/72, The plate on the steering stem should provide a manufacture date...

For parts you can go to www.hondarestoration.com online parts books and search engines for several parts houses, both US and EU.

The link has been very usefull and have access to all the part numbers now, just need to find the parts!! on my bike and it say

I had a look at the frame number plate on my bike and it says 72 7.

Does this mean my bike was made in july 72 or is this just a standard plate put on all the XLs then stamped with the frame number.

To get the bike registered in the uk for free tax I need to prove it was made in 1972.

I would assume that this is the date of manufacture.

Mine says D.O.M 4/72

VIN# XL250-1020868

In the UK I would assume 72/7 would mean July 72.
