Hi, I bought a 1981 XL 100s a while ago and was having troubles with what I thought was the stator. Turns out after I bought the clymer guide and after I replaced the stator that the stator meets resistance requirements.

So after I replaced the stator, it sparked, and I was having troubles with the carb and fixed that, but after we got the carb working, it would not spark. We checked the points, they are good, checked the ignition coil, its good.

So I tested to voltage out of the stator, and the voltage out of the ignition coil. they seem kind of weak, so I was wondering what kind of voltage is supposed to come out of both of these places, the stator and the ignition coil.

thank you,
Sean

I know this sounds simple, but I have a xl250 and sl125 and I've found that the plugs foul out VERY easily. I worked on my first one to get spark, replacing everything then one day I put the old plug back in and it's been running ever since. I've just started on the 125 and if it stop running, I take the plug out and clean it and sand it off and it runs like a top again. hope it helps.

I am wondering what kind of voltage you get with the lead and ground and with the ground and where the spark plug plugs into. I am getting very low volts .1 volts before the ignition coil and .5 volts after the ignition coil. I have replaced the spark plug, what the spark plug plugs into, and the ignition coil

I dont know what it should be but .5 isnt enough as far as I know the coil ramps the volts way up there I do know its hard to hold the plug and kick the bike over and if its not somthing isnt right. I dont use voltmeters for testing spark I am dumb and just use the palm of my hand. Lol I dont see it as being dumb just lazy I can tell the difference between a week spark and a nice one by the way it feels in my hand but ive done it many many times.
