Just a short note to let you all know how my project is going. The vertical
Lifan 200 is practically a bolt in application (almost) at least the engine
anyway. In fact, I think the Lifan motor actually went in easier than the Honda
motor came out. I'm still trying to figure out the wiring. I was on the phone
with Larry Hooper from Hooper imports yesterday trying to figure out why I
wasn't getting any spark. We think I may have a defective CDI unit, so a new
one is on the way. Some minor mods. that need to be done for the transplant:
Larger intake boot from carb. to air cleaner (or use a pod filter)
Stock SL exhaust hits the oil level indicator bubble on the lower rt. engine
case. I cut a section out of the pipe and spliced in a new piece.
Top cylinder mount is not in the same location (make new brackets)
Had to make brackets to hold the new electronic components
I couldn't find a 12 volt battery small enough to fit the stock SL mount, so I
had to modify my battery box.
Carb. has a cable-operated, spring-loaded choke, so I'll have to come up with
something for that.
And of course, the wiring issues.

I'm documenting everything with photos and will put together a pdf file of the
whole project once finished.
