Hello, I am building a big bore sl125/150 and I was wondering if someone has the ratios for CL100, SL100, and SL125 transmissions.  I'm trying to select a transmission for a bike which will only pavement and would take advantage of the gain hp of a big bore over the stock sl125 engine.  I hear that a lot of people put Cl100 transmitions in their SL big bores for racing purposes, I suppose?  Thanks in advance for any info.

What about a CB125 tranny?  Those were optimized for use on pavement to begin with.  Just an idea.

The transmission with the ratios you want are in the CB100, CB125S, CL100, and supposedly in early SL100s.  Latter SL100s were (in my experience) the same as the SL125s.  I learned this the hard way.  I used a transmission out of a CL100 for my Powroll SL145 stroked motor.  I also used a 26mm Keihin from a Honda Hawk, with a Powroll Cam and valve springs.
For a CB100, CL100, or CB125s the number of teeth and ratios are as follows:

                               Mainshaft               Countershaft                          Ratio

First                          14                         35                                        2.5
Second                      18                         31                                        1.72
Third                         21                         28                                        1.33
Fourth                       24                         26                                        1.08
Fifth                          26                         24                                        0.92

All motors have 4.055 primanry ratios  18/73
I hope this helps.  If you would like stock SL125 transmissions, I have a couple of them that I would be willing to part with.

Good Luck!  I hope this helps,
DSK

Thanks guys for the info!  I'm going to try to rip the transmission out my 1970 SL100 engine and check the ratios.

I finally ripped the transmission out of 1970 sl100 and verified that it does in fact have the same ratios as the CB100, CB125s, and Cl125.

I know I'm late on getting in on the conversation but I put together a SL125/150 ahrma mx'r last year and I did swap the SL trans with a CB-100 and it did work.   I worked on the project for two years and had to wade thru all info that was recalled from memory back in the 70's.  Some did not work but some did work, so just take it all in and make your choice.  My bike turned out to be so much fun I'm building another one now.  good luck.

Also I was told the CB100 had closer ratio's between 1st and 2nd.  You can check wth someone that has the factual ratio numbers.  Also the extra power allowed me to change the sprockets sizes.  In the front I went to a 16t and the rear  I dropped from the 49t stock to a 40t with good results.

the SL125 has wider spread gear ratios. over the closer cb125 gears.  i know that the one piece head modles the tranny gears swap with no problems. as i put a 1971 sl125 complete trans set into my 1974 cb125 cases.  for me the wider ratios. let me rev it higher in each gear to get more speed. for riding WOT on the roads. goals are to get near 100mph on my little honda. I got the power to pull the wider ratios. and the sprockets to fine tune it.  its in top gear if i have the power to over come wind drag. at the much higher speeds then it would do stock.

I have done many mods and still building my little cafe road racer. .

I was wondering if anyone has the gear ratio numbers for sl/xl 125 transmissions.  Also,  I was wondering if its possible to put a cb125 transmission to into a 1974 xl125?  I would assume you can. Thanks guys.
