I think I already know the answer to this--but--- does anyone know if anyone is making TL250 plastic? I think I need 2 sets--aftermarket? I would try CMSNL but I haven't a clue as to stock #'s--I can probably get them on tuesday-- an interesting opportunity popped up out of nowhere today and I might pass if this is going to be a nightmare....

Hey Bob...

the side covers are: right side=83530-376-670ZA ('75) and 83530-376-770ZA ('76)...left side=83650-376-670ZA ('75) and 83650-376-770ZA ('76)...good luck trying to find NOS, there are some people out there making them new out of kevlar (really good idea since you tend to lean on them a lot) Bob ginder sells the kevlar ones (I think they are $70+ each). I have a set of really beat up ones (lots of repairs visible on the inside...)if someone wanted to copy them. NOS Fenders are rare also but aftermarket ones can be had...you thinkin about getting one?

thanks Murray--love to have a contact for those Kevlar guys--I went and did it today--2 complete 250's--one a 75 and the other a 76--the 76 runs just fine and I think the 75 will with a little work--I have one set of the original covers with the normal cracks and such and another set the guy had fashioned out of aluminum--also came with a set of fork seals for one bike and a set of brand new tires--because of sitting and getting dusty they are about a 5 and a 6 on the 10 scale (cosmetically).

I need these like I need another hole in my head but I got both for $1000---some things just MUST be bought--

I'm going to gunk and wash the runner and post a pic with the other in the background and see if someone wants them for what I paid--if so, fine,if not they will get cleaned and bubble wrapped and put away for posterity (Geoff)..

Or-----they'll get restored----I am truly nuts!!!

I think it was Chuck Warner in AZ (from the old site...)that told me about them and I have lost the e-mail with that info...The guy was out west somewhere...I just noticed that B&J Racing no longer has them on their web site??? I hope you like the bike, it is a GREAT trail bike and can be made into a servicable Vintage Trials machine.

BTW...

if you decide to seriously ride one, I can give a list of mods...

"Some things just MUST be bought..." my sentiments, exactly! I ran across a sweet deal on a '75 XL250 that I just HAD to have. I'm struggling to come up with the money to get it, but I will. I just hate to see such a nice bike set in a shed and go to waste.

You don't see many TL250's around. Lots of TL125's; I sure do like mine. I've thought about acquiring a TL250 to go along with my TL125 and, my soon to be, XL250. If you do put one of them up for sale, I'll watch for it and maybe, just maybe, I can swing it.

I must have been brain dead back in 1975/1976 when these were brand new. I watched the guys on Bultacos and Montesas and wanted to give trials a try,  but I didn't think I could swing it on a teenager's budget. I really had no idea that my favorite bike manufacturer, Honda, was producing trials bikes. I could have had a BRAND NEW TL125 or TL250 in my garage to mess around on all these years. I didn't find out about them until a couple of years ago, and now they are a hot item in the collectibles market. A mint TL goes for mucho money on eBay.

Have fun with 'em.

Larry

I recently had the opportunity to watch (closely, since I was the section's observer) an expert class rider on a TL125...awesome...
