HI, believe me or not, since that time i was unable to touch the bike, it's in my storage with my 81' XL 125. I already ordered and i have here a new blinker relay just in case that the original one was not working. I'll keep you updated if i solve it. Thanks. Christian

I totally rebuild a 1979 XL 500. When i was building it again, i putted the wiring again, , all with no problem, but when i reached the blinker relay, it has only 2 connectors, and on the wiring i have 3 cables for that. I have 1 black, 1 green and 1 grey. I finally put everything using the green and black ones. When i checked that everything is ok and put on the bike, the relay started doing some discharge noise, so i turned all off, and changed the black wire for the grey one. Now the noise is gone, the bike turns on the engine, everything works OK, minus the blinkers. When i was putting the rear blinkers, i remember that i made 1 turn on ( not blick because the front one was not put on the bike at that time ) so i thought that everything will be OK. Then i finally finish the bike, wanted to put the blinkers to work, and nothing, i can't make even turn them on. I don't know if i'm using the wrong colors on the relay ( i don't know if i have to use the green and black or the green and grey ) or if i screw the relay when it made that strange noise. Thanks for any help that i can get here, this is the only left thing to do on the bike.

Thanks for everybody. I assembled the engine, and i think that the oil leak was from dry valve guide seals, because now it doesn't leak anything ( and i used it for 3 hours in the hot Florida. For the rings, the cylinder was like new, so i made a quick hone with a new set of rings, and it's like new again.
Tomorrow i'll put some pics of the completed rebuild bike.
Thanks
Christian
