I had hot start problems, that's been 99% solved with new float needles in the carbs and a new stator. It still bogues at high rpm. I put aside the carb, because I think I've gone round that side and things are in order there. I am suspecting the ignition timing. I had 2 questions: Is the ignition timing advance set in the cdi on this model? i am not seeing any mechanical system by the pulse generator. Honda does not sell cdi for this bike anymore. Where can I get one, preferably new. Thanks for your answers. Olivier

I still can't find a CDI for that bike. I would think that it is the same or very close to a 85 CDI apart from the connection plug. Does anyone know how the 6 wires would go from a 6 pin transfered to a 4 pin and 2 pin like the 85 onward CDIs? But anyways I think my headache is solved. I happened to try a XR 250 exhaust. And the bike opened up. The problem I had was gone. So now I'm thinking that afterall the CDI is fine and that it was my stock exhaust tha was too blocked. I opened the exhaust and made some "space" in there. The bike runs much better. I'll finish off by a carb adjustment and the will be set to spend the winter until spring!!
