Rank:none Score: 0 Posts: 4 From: USA Registered: 08/08/2008 Time spent: 0 hours	(Date Posted:08/08/2008 3:30 PM) Just bought a 1980 XL500S off a guy on craigslist. The bike runs, but smokes a bit. I plan to replace the exhaust gaskets and possibly the piston rings. My main concern is a slow leak just below the shifter. The shifter slides ~1/4" right and left (not up and down), if I pull or push on it. Has anyone else run into this lateral movement on the shifter? And if so, how did you remedy the problem?
