Well let me start off by saying I'm a honda guy.  I restore Z50's and XR75's.  I also do the CR500 Aluminum frame conversions.

  However I really don't know much about the ole xl's and electrical has never really been my strong point.

This XL125s popped up on Craigslist today for $150, after a little bartering I loaded her up and went home.



When I picked it up he told me it was running last summer but this summer when they got it out it was not getting any fire.  He said his neighbor came over and told him he thought it must be something in the magneto.

I can see they botched with the wiring quite a bit and the coil was gone.  I started out with a 12v coil before finding out these were 6v systems.  So then I grabbed a 6v coil off of a Z50 and went back to work. 

When I look at the stator I see 6 wires coming out of the system, The 2 red and 2 brown  wires are not hooked up to anything and dead end.

The blue with stripe is tied in to a bunch of green wires. 1 of them is grounded to the frame and another one appears to be coming out of the CDI box. The yellow is tied into the black wire going into the cdi.


anyone have any ideas?  their is no ignition and I also unplugged the kill switch to make sure that was not the problem.
