Does anyone have any experience of the magnets performance failing after an overheated engine.
Engine rebuilt now.
It seems that the stator coils give an ac output but its low and the coil is hard to energise on just a kick start.
Are there any output specs for this alternator?

My 1974 XL125 Honda Shop Manual has a supplement for the 1976 version and it says the AC Generator is supposed to put out  0.064kw/5,000 rpm.

I do not know about magnet losing thier power, but have heard that if one of these motors sits for a long time, rust builds up around the stator coil and produces a weak spark. The remedy is to  remove and lightly sand with 200 (or higher) grit finishing sand paper. Be sure to wipe/blow/vacuum up all the dust.

I hope this helps!

Many thanks, I have got the coil running off the white coil output and have fed the remaining to a full wave bridge rectifier to charge the battery, fingers crossed!
