A relative gave me two XLs last year both in great condition, a 1974 350 and a1974 175 both ridden two seasons and put in a garage for 32 years, one had 100 miles and the other 1500 miles.  I have gotten the 350 in good running condition and ride it often, I am now working on getting the 175 on the road and am having a proiblem.  I am in the process of replacing the fork seals and the seals that are specified for the bike are too big.  I ordered some seals off of ebay, and got s&n seals with the same numbers on the seals as the originals, but they are larger in diameter and thicker than original.  I then ordered Honda seals and again are larger and thicker in diameter than what came out of t he bike.  I replaced the seals on the 350 with no problem and it had one seal fiitting in the fork by themselves, the 175 seems to have two components, an insert with a metal ridge that has a rubber half seal connected to it ( that doesnt seem to come out) and  small seal fits into that.  The seals I bought  look like if that insert were not there, the seals would be the right size. (the manual and parts sheet do not show the insert)  The bike was manufactured in May 1973 and is a 74 model, is there any chance different forks from an earlier 125 or something was put on the bike by Honda ?  I know for a fact it is bone stock and no alterations have ever been made, in fact when I got t he bikes none of the bolts had ever been loosened or removed from either of them. Any help would be appreciated.
