I got my buddy into biking, he sold his car and bought an 84 XR500R (RFVC) with a baja designs dual sport kit on it.

Was good at first, only smoked a bit, mostly during acceleration. Crazy power, slightly noisy engine sometimes.


Smoking problem got bad fast, motor is out of bike now and 1/2  taken apart.

Camshaft/rockers are BAD... worn pretty flat in spots.

I assume he's going to need at least a bore, new piston and rings, and good stock camshaft/rockers if he doesn't spend more money for an aftermarket cam and fardface rockers.

Anyone with used parts, or sources for rebuild parts needed, it would be great help.
