XL'ers Here are some neat web pages which you may already know. One is an excellent, if not kind, road test of a 1978 XL 175. You'll find it at motorbikearchives.com/Bike-Tests/Trail/Honda-XL175-1978. There maybe a link to this already on this excellent site, but you know what they say, totally stamp out redundancy.
Another fun one is a movie of a kid getting great wheelies from a 1973 XL175. You'll find it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s2ixm9SQ8s Strangely it has a live Twisted Sister over dub – good for obscure rock history but let it run silent and home movie like. It looks like it was filmed back in the day Ala. super 8, or that maybe that was the look they were after from a more modern day video. Anyhow, his XL is the same year as mine - I don't know how he gets so much air time on his XL. The three explanations are, A He has it poked and stroked, B. He weighs 100 pounds less than many of us do now, C. He is very good rider, D. Both B and C (likely) E. All of the above (unlikely).
Enough over think - enjoy. Fred in Derry NH
PS My old gal needs a rectifier. I assume this is an at home job. It looks pretty straight forward. The price of 85 to 100 bucks for a new one seems to be pretty consistent. Feed back appreciated. Thanks
