I stretched a length of that rubberized black mastic tape (with paper between layers) and pressed it in over the damaged area and trimmed.......presto, like new.  Chuck

Great job!

What am I looking at here?  I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I can't tell what the original manifold should've looked like, nor where your repair is.

Can you take another photo, maybe backed away a little bit?

I feel so foolish....

Starting at the big end (sitting on table) going up getting smaller to the ridge (which is part of the original molding)......the tape covers this area and follows the ridge around. In other words the big part that rests on the table is covered with tape to the ridge.

The clamp that went around the large end, clamping the boot to the filter had cut a small gash or two in the rubber' My old one was split bad......this is a good used one that I bought off epay. I just wanted to be sure the small damaged area woul hold up. Chuck
