Hey all,  new to the XL Forum.  Alot of great info!  I'm reviving an '81 XL500s.  Great old bike, one owner, 3800 miles, sat in a shed 5 years, rough shape, not running when I brought it home, but all there.  Replaced stator, CDI, Voltage regulator, coil and finally got spark!  Running great now.  On the cosmetic front, I've not been able to find the "Honda" script decals for the tank anywhere!  I have located a set of the Lawyer Warnings, and I can replace the White and White/Black striping, but no luck with the HONDA decals.  Any suggestions??  Thanks!

If you can't come up with any, you might try a local graphics shop. They should be able to make you a set.
A buddy of mine restored an SL350 and that's how he came up with the side cover "350" decals. Good luck.

 Thanks for the advice.  I've found a graphics shop, not too far, that said they may be able to help.  One side of my tank has a very clean example for them to copy.  And to you Taxidermyman, thanks for the info on Reproduction Decals.  Ive seen their site, but have not seen any Honda details in their on-line catalog.  I'm going to contact them, I'll let you know what I find.

 After doing some calling around, I was directed to a source in Australia.  Apparently, the old XL's are quite popular there, and they did have what I was looking for.  $36.00 (including shipping) for both tank and side cover decals, not too bad!  He can be contacted at signfarm@gmail.com. Ya reproduction decals used to have all the honda stuff but I heard honda put a stop to that as its copyrighted or somthing to that effect.

 Just an FYI for anyone interested in these tank decals,  look carefully at the images.  I had to order the XL185 "Honda" tank script as the XL500s set is apparently different in Australia with red block lettering there, as apposed to the black with white outline here in the US.  The XL185 tank decal is an exact replica of my XL500 original.
