Picked up a 74 side port 350 that had not been going for two years, cleaned the carb, new air cleaner, new spark plug, starts & runs fine till you give it more than 1/2 throttle & it backfires misses dies unless you close the throttle down below half, has the std 36mm carb with a 120 main jet.

It's a 36mm Keihin & here was I thinking it had come with the standard carb, I do have 36 & a 38mm Mikuni, the engine is standard? Other than a 1 3/4" header that steps to 1 7/8" & then to 2"
Timing is correct & advance is working fine, if I hold the throttle wide open & don't cloes it the engine stops dead.

Hi Pat no plug is fine, it's like the ignition is breaking down in someway, looks like I will be doing that CDI conversion we have been talking about, I have all the parts now so when you can confirm the shipping I will get it underway.
