I purchased a 1977 CT125 last week. Was running fine, but now its breaking up at higher RPM's. At low RPM's under a load its fine.

I own a couple of XL125's and they don't need a battery to run, unlike my CL100 and SL125.

Yesterday I exchanged the coil and condenser with one from a TL125 frame I had lying around, same thing.

I've replaced the plug, no difference. Cleaned the carb which looked to be fine....... no difference.

I guess I'll start swapping things from my 74 xl125 like the points and see what happens? What else could it be? The stator?

I have a new battery so I'll put that in.... I had a 77 Xl100 that had the same issue, never figured that one out and sold it.....

Does not need a battery. Problem was that the timing was too advanced.

Go soothingly on the grease mud ... as there lies the skid demon! ...
