So been poking around a little and was just wondering how much interest there would be in a DG or Thor type aluminum swingarm for the early XLs (side port XL250s and 350s). It would probably need to be at 350 +1" length and shock mounts in the same pivot to mount position. I assume that made to take needle bearings would be a desirable thing. It would also need to have brake stay in stock location, take the stock axle width, and maybe not taper so much as stock so that it could be a more universal project piece. This would allow big knobs, fairly wide street tires like maybe a 150/80/18 (cafe projects) and the 350 length to allow for good diameter clearance for a 19" rear for flatrack... Oh and maybe peg mounts and/or a skate wheel chain roller just to cover it all.

I talked to 2 vendors that make reproductions that might entertain the idea if there was enough interest. I figure it has to be a pretty universal project part to make it worth while.

Anyway what would the interest be and at what price? If it was a $500-600 piece is there interest?

So I'm guessing the interest is basically zero.

Does the mt250 swing arm fit the xl250? I thought it did and if so I am pretty sure that means the 73-74 cr250 arms should work as I thought they bolted on the mt250 and if all of the above is true there are companies that make arms for the cr250 already. This is all just an assumption as I have not laid my xl and mt arms side by side yet.

Its close but the pivot is about an inch wider on the xl so wont work.

have you looked into seeing if the kawasaki rr arm would fit. some fitment might be required, but its easily available, and if you dont like the gold look you could paint it black. i doubt if its a bolt up.
