There was an old topic about there being a GET TOGETHER for XL owners at MID OHIO racetrack.  It was way back in 2006 -2007.  I was wondering if anyone still took their bikes and or spare parts and met there.

I didn't see anything specific to XL's on Mid Ohio's website only 2 dates reserved for "Vintage" bikes.  Which I would think a few of the XL owners would attend just for the "Vintage".  Just wondering if more XL's were at one or the other of these events or if there was another meet somewhere that everyone got together?

I assume you mean  The "AMA Vintage Days" on July 18th-20th and not the "Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix"June 27th -29th.

Yes I meant Vintage Days in July.
Were you talking about the one in June? That sounds like a lot of fun also.
I don't live that far. Might do both.

I was leaning more towards the AMA Vintage event in July myself, but would like to try for the Vintage Grand Prix event in June also.

I sent an email out to my high school buddies that still get together for the International Bike Show every year (Jan31st-Feb2nd) here in Cleveland, asking if they would have interest in either. Most all of them ride and 1/2 of them are into the vintage stuff. We have talked about doing this but nobody has ever initated it. You know how that Family/Job/Life stuff always seems to get in the way of everything fun.

I am betting if any of my buddies pick 1 the AMA event would be their choice as well, but who could resist "Old School" bikes of any sort if you are a motorhead.

Hey FXRCLEVE,

I ride down from MI (on the Harley - bit much for the XL250) with a buddy every year to Wauseon, OH to the Vintage swap meet July 18-20. Always catch the vintage flat track races on Friday night! Love those side shifters! That's where I found my first XL (XL175) that I restored for my daughter's first bike.

We have also gotten to Mid - Ohio when ever it didn't fall on that that same weekend. We've never made both on the same weekend. The allure of beer and vintage flat track racing on Friday night in Wauseon seems to get in the way. Anyway, if a bunch wants to meet up at the AMA event, which is the same weekend, I'll check in with my buddy and we might try an early Saturday morning ride to get there. Here's the link to the Wauseon Event.

Wow XLKIRK, That looks pretty cool too!

You would think since those are so close geographically that the planners would work together to avoid overlapping dates.  I don't like trying to rush myself if I go to these things.

Now, I feel like a kid in a penney candy store with only 1 cent trying to decide my best option.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If the Mid Ohio event had a good clay flat track - and would run the vintage bikes - It would be a No Brainer! BTW - this These photos were taken from the 2010 event but gives you an idea of all the different bikes that make it to the race. The "wheel stander" was a Triumph twin. Needless to say - it hooked up a bit to well!
