I was going through some old pictures I had and found this photo of me and my 1985 XR 600. I thought I would share it with you guys. It was taken about 1990. We were just about to go trail riding in the Wayne national Forrest in southeastern Ohio. This was the first XR I bought. Up to this point I rode mostly the XL series of motorcycles 1972 to 76 250's and 350's. The old XR was fast and reliable. Sadly I sold her 6 years ago. I was getting to the point where I did not need all the power and weight it had to offer. In other words I was getting older ! A very good mount. It was at times getting to be a handful for me  in the tight woods. I now ride a 1995 XR 250 with a 280 kit installed. Much easier for me to handle in the type of terrain I ride in.1985 xr 600

 Very Nice.

I as well started out riding my 74 XL350 modified for dirt. My current ride is a 79 XR500. I love it but I hear you. Sometimes it can be too much of a good thing

Yup, very nice.. I started off on a '79 XL100s  mustering on a sheep station in western Qld.
As we swapped out the bikes every 2 years (they wore out) I progressed to an XR200, XL250r and then XR250 in '86.

Go soothingly on the grease mud ... as there lies the skid demon! ...
