Stuck again. Small oil pipe is in the way & i cant seem to get it out of the block. It needs to be removed to remove the chain. Im tempted to tap the end of it & make up a slide hammer but is there an easier /better way? Also the head gasket somone used is metal . i think 3 or 4 thin pcs. looks like they crush when the head is torqued. I assume not reuseable? Should i get another head gasket of the same style? Because i have a gasket kit with  the old style gasket with copper ring. Note motor has a high compression piston & is now 90mm bore vrs stock 89
Thanks

Re:removing oil pipe to allow removal of timing chain 79 XR 500

The old oil pipe is wore down & so is the aluminum around it. The old chain must be streched alot. I filed the damage off the oil pipe & was able to remove it. I compared the old chain to the new & hanging from a screw driver the old chain is 1 pin width longer by the time you get to the bottom. x 2 if you count the other side. There is also damage to the aluminum block form the chain fllailing around.. I do  think the damage to the aluminum is superficial as there is still alot of aluminum around the oil tube oriface.  I would more than appreciate your input on all of the above Swiss
